McDonalds Philippines throws shade on Jollibee's Champ burger phase-out

Jollibee fastfood's rival McDonald's has thrown shade on the former's recent announcement regarding its classic burger.

In a Facebook post, McDonald's posted a photo of their popular Big Mac with the text "Here to stay".

Big Mac is McDonalds big burger which contains 1.6 pounds beef patty with lettuce, cheese, pickels and special sauces.

McDonald Philippines post came off the heels of rival Jollibee's recent announcement regarding Champ burger's retirement.

In a statement Thursday, January 2, 2020, Jollibee said they are phasing out one of the original products in their menu, the Champ.

"We wish to inform you that soon, we will be phasing out our Champ burger in all branches," said Jollibee in a statement.

However, Jollibee did not close doors for a possible return of the Champ if the market dictates in the future.

"Our product offerings are being reviewed regularly to meet customer demands so there’s always a chance that old Jollibee classics – including the Champ – may return in the future. Thank you," the company said.
