Filipina nurse May Parsons has been awarded the George Cross Award by no less the British Queen Elizabeth II.
The award was given to Parsons as a representative of the United Kingdom's National Health Service for their role during the height of the pandemic.
Queen Elizabeth II personally handed the award to Parsons in a ceremony at Windsor Castle on July 12, 2022.
"It is with great pleasure on behalf of a grateful nation, that I award the George Cross to the National Health Services of the United Kingdom,” said Queen Elizabeth.Parsons was the first ever medical frontliner who administered the first COVID-19 vaccine in the world. On December 8, 2020, Parsons administered the first COVID-19 vaccine to the 90-year-old Margaret Kenan at the University Hospital Coventry.
UK was the first country in the world to approve the use of the Pfizer Biontech COVID-19 vaccine.
