How to properly handle the new 1000-peso bill

0

In April 2022, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas has released the new 1000 peso polymer banknotes. The new 1000 peso bill comes with its new design and security features aimed to make it more durable.

From the previous design featuring the 3 martyred heroes, Josefa Llanes Escoda, Jose Abad Santos and Vicente Lim, the new 1000 peso bill featured the Philippine Eagle and the Sampaguita. And compared to the old 1k banknote, the new one is made of polymer plastic.

And with the use of polymer plastic, the BSP has come-up with guidelines on how to properly handle the new 1000 pesos bill.

Here are the do's and don't in handling the new 1k peso polymer banknote.

1. Keep them flat.

2.  Keep them clean.

3. Use them as payment for good and services.

4.  Do not deface, write on or mark polymer banknotes.

5. Do not excessively fold, crease or crumple the polymer banknotes.

6. Do not tear, cut or poke holes.

7. Do not staple or use rubber bands to keep them together.

8. Do not damage the clear windows, metallic features and security features.

9. Do not iron polymer banknotes.

10. Do not expose polymer banknotes to very high temperature or place near an open flame.

11. Do not expose polymer banknotes to strong or corrosive chemicals.
