Kapamilya journalist and anchor Noli De Castro has bid goodbye in ABS-CBN flagship primetime newscast TV Patrol to seek a senate seat in the 2022 national elections.
During its Thursday, October 7, 2021 broadcast, Kabayan thanked ABS-CBN management, his co-anchors, and all TV Patrol staff for the opportunity to work with them.
De Castro will be part of Isko's Senate slate in the upcoming Halalan 2022.
Kabayan is no stranger in politics. While he spent most of his career in broadcasting as ABS-CBN's top news anchor, he has also ventured into politics for some time.
In 2001, Kabayan run and won a Senate seat garnering more than 16 million votes.
After 3 years in the Senate, he run for Vice President and won in 2004 as former Pres. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's running mate.
After 6 years in the Office of the Vice President, Kabayan took a break from politics and return to broadcasting taking the helm again of Kapamilya primetime newscast TV Patrol in 2010.
While De Castro is been doing well in his return to broadcasting, ABS-CBN went off air in free TV in 2020. This was after Duterte allied congress denied ABS-CBN's franchise renewal. And that could be Kabayan's deciding factor to return to politics and in the Senate.
Meanwhile, here's the official statement of ABS-CBN on Kabayan's decision to leave TV Patrol and venture into politics again.
