Filipino pole vaulter EJ Obiena has once more raised the Philippine Flag to its highest after shattering the Asian pole vault record and setting a new one.

EJ Obiena makes a successful 5.93m jump to shatter the more than 2 decades old 5.92m Asian record set by Kazakhstan's Igor Potapovich.

During his competition in the 2021 Golden Roof Challenge in Austria on Saturday, September 11, Obiena broke his personal and national record of 5.91m which he set just 2 weeks ago in the Paris Diamond League where he placed second to Matt Duplantis.
And he also set a new Asian and meet record after clearing 5.93m in the men's pole vault competition.
Obiena beats Igor Poptapovich's record of 5.92m which he held for 23 years since 1998.
In his statement after the win, Obiena thanked all his supporters saying he couldn't have done it without their support and cheers.
