Sharon Cuneta asks Pres. Duterte to reconsider views on ABS-CBN franchise renewal

"Megastar" Sharon Cuneta had asked President Duterte to reconsider his stance on the franchise renewal of her mother network ABS-CBN.

In a statement during her presscon Thursday, January 9 at the ELJ Building in ABS-CBN compound, Sharon said she hoped and pray for Pres. Duterte's discernment and consideration with regards to the renewal of ABS-CBN franchise.

"So I'll just say this before saying goodbye—I pray that our dear President reconsiders his decision about ABS-CBN," she said.

“I hope, in my heart, that our president reconsiders the thousands and thousands of employees who have grown up here, learned the ropes here, and that includes me.”

Sharon added.

Cuneta had just renewed her contract with the Kapamilya network. Upcoming project in lined with her is the newest season of Your Face Sounds Familiar.

In the same press con, Sharon acknowledged the friendships and family that was built in the network throughout the years. And that relationships according to her could be one of those being endangered once the network failed to secure the franchise.

"But everybody I grew up with here who have remained loyal to the station—and have grown up here, have learned from the school of hard rocks here, have become family, good friends—will lose almost everything they've built over the years," said Sharon

“We found family, good friends. We’ll lose almost everything they built over the years and even those that might choose to stay if indeed, unfortunately, goes that way, it won’t be the same,” Megastar continued.

ABS-CBN's franchise will expire on March 2020.

Duterte has publicly announced opposition to ABS-CBN's franchise renewal over the years.
