Good news for the working class, Department of Labor and Employment through the National Wage and Productivity Commission has announced pay rules for April 9, 2020.
In a Facebook post by NWPC, it reminded employers to follow the pay rules for April 9.
April 9 happened to fall on two regular Philippine holidays, Araw ng Kagitingan and Maundy Thursday.
According to the post, employees who will not work on April 9 are entitled to 200 percent of their daily wage rate. While those employee will report to work on April 9 will be entitled to 300 percent of their daily wage rate.
Maundy Thursday is the fifth day of Holy Week, an annual regular holiday wherein Catholics commemorate the traditional “washing of the feet” during the Mass of the Lord’s Supper.
Araw ng Kagitingan on the other hand is another annual regular holiday in honor of the courage of Filipino and American troops who fought Japanese soldiers during World War II.
